I've heard of Easter Sunday, but never Easter Monday. No clue what it is, and I'll not bother to research it. So adding a day because of that, I'll disagree. But adding a day or 2 because of a holiday where most people travel or spend the entire day with family, and not at a computer would make sense to me. I know many religions/churches will spend upwards of 12 hours of the day with services and activities, and you still have things like family events (egg hunts, etc.). But I doubt we will see anything unless Anet screws something up.
/signed because ive been busy yesterday AND today with family stuff... my only day to otherwise farm is tomorrow (sunday) - i would love to get in a couple days.
Well here in The Netherlands ( Holland for some of you guys) we have easter monday but personally i don't see that as a reason for extending the easter drops.
None of the previous reasons i read have convinced me either to be honest.
My weekend is packed, i have to write a paper, sunday is for family etc etc.
I'm not going to tell ppl how to plan their time but it was known a while back when easter would be this year so maybe planning ahead for it would have been smart, that is if you really want a couple of stax of eggs.
If you can't make it, you can't make it, simple.
This is like writing a letter to the NFL asking them to move Superbowl Sunday to wednesday because you got a ticket from a friend to go watch it but can't make it on sunday.
And while we're at it using the religion thing to get our precious eggs lets throw in the Korean holiday's Seokka Tanshin-il, Buddha's Birthday or Chuesok, Harvest moon festival.
Maybe we can use holidays from every major religion to speed the titles up ?
Or another idea is to make a warning on the box "Playing this game might conflict with Real life events, we at Anet are in no way accountable for loss of Golden Eggs, Chocolate Bunnies, Alcohol, Pumpkin Cookies etc etc.
If International Talk Like a Pirate Day lasted for 4 days, Easter should too.
In all honesty it could last from Maundy Thursday, until Easter Monday.
Make it last the whole of passover that should keep everyone happy, or maybe not
Or we could as I have suggested before have the game festivals separated from real life holidays by say a week and centered around game events.
Print out a game calender and list them all along with duration.
That way none of them would conflict with players personal commitments to family religious observances etc, assuming this is possible.
Of course then the actual characters would complain, with Norne and Assura needing to go home at festival time and moaning about players taking them on missions.
Charr would be happy though they only celebrate one festival that of killing all none Charr and it lasts all year round.

the celebrations, commonly known nowadays as easter, are, in fact, much older than christianity or islam. it's those old traditions, assimilated, twisted and remade as christian easter is where the 'easter monday' come from. in very general terms, there was a week of parties and games to celebrate the reborn life and welcome spring. one of such parties was dyngus, which reminisciense is now widely known in the central europe. in order to maintain the pagans better, the church had to reforge their own traditions into new ones, showing them that christian ones are better, yet still similar. the long week of celebrations was shortened to a day.
all the religious crap aside, End made his point there. the tyrians do not celebrate our holidays. we have easter, including easter monday or not, spending the whole time with family or not. they don't have that sort of thing, still fighting the charr, collecting ancient relics and planning to destroy the universe, even at the time when we, here, celebrate something.
but it's anet's courtesy that usually something special happens at tyria while there are important, or at least recognisable, days in our world. grog being dropped by monsters on talk like a pirate day may even be a coincidence, same as chocolate bunnies and golden eggs dropped during our easter; the tyrians may also have their own celebrations, unknown to us.
it's not our easter transfered into the game, so that special drops must be there for the whole time. it's tyrian thing that happens during our thing thanks to the gods across the multiverse, or - in this very issue - anet's programmers. on the other hand, it may happen a week later as well and still it would be completely fine.
game lore apart, the reason that the easter monday is NOT commonly known and celebrated, not as the easter itself, is the reason enough not to stretch the drops on it. some regions of the world, including mine, know it and celebrate somehow, but usually it's just another day full of free time, even if it's even honored; more like a way to cure hangover than a holiday to celebrate.
therefore, /notsigned.
i would like bunnies/eggs (or something similar) to drop on another, newly introduced tyrian occasion, though.

Easter Monday is an official holiday in many countries, so I don't see why it shouldn't be added because of that. Please bother to actually do some research before posting one of your useless thoughts.
/signed , why is Monday a holiday? because its part of Easter. duh. and if it is part of it, i don't see why it shouldn't extend to Monday when it clearly says "Easter weekend event"
moreso, events last either for a weekend, till sunday evening, or for a whole week. making an exception for bunnies would admit that tyrian holidays are connected and dependant on our holidays.
we all know that they are, but the game is made to believe in something else. to believe in the world that is shown. and it would hurt the lore. i think that Konig would understand ;p

Its part of Easter to some and not to others not to mention a large part of the world that doesn't follow Easter at all.
Its pretty good that we have a range of festivals some Christian some none Christian some of western origin others eastern some pagan and others not connected with any real world festivals I know of.
Well I want to know why we are celebrating St Patricks day then and not St George, St David and St Andrew - equality I say! No favoritism for the Irish!!
I dont care about the religion part, as long as it doesnt extend into Tuesday so I can go get my half priced candy!
Of course everything I said is from an American Standpoint I can't speak for the celebration of Easter Monday in other societies
In the Netherlands Easter Monday is a national holiday Not that we're all Roman Catholics here, perhaps 25% of the population or something.
Personally, I'm don't consider myself Roman Catholic, and I have no problem at all with an extension of the festivities. Gives me more time to farm chocolate bunnies
Easter Monday is a day off work for many people in the Netherlands. It is not associated with a specific religious ritual, but is a time to relax, perform household tasks and enjoy the company of family or friends.

See the issue is that Easter Monday is really a Christian thing (specifically Roman Catholic if I remember right). While Easter itself (note no little crosses dropping) is a largely secular holiday...While I admit the basis for it stems from religion extending it to Easter Monday would require anets recognition of a religion.
/like drops but relies that it could have major repercussions(is this the right spelling?) business wise..

Actually, Easter Monday, while not exactly a celebration, is still a public holiday here in Australia.
And as for the whole religion argument, whilst Easter as we know it has Christian origins, and Pagan ones before that, it is, like Christmas and Halloween, very much a secular holiday now days, more about spending time with family and getting your kids sick by too many chocolate eggs. We have Halloween and effectively Christmas in GW as major events, as well as Chinese New Year, plus small scale ones like Talk Like A Pirate Day, St Patricks day and Thanksgiving (the last one not having much significance outside of North America) so I dont see the problem with extending the Easter drops by one day, given that they are only drops and not a full-blown event.
